What is a VA?

Posted by Erin on January 22, 2009

A virtual assistant is an independent entrepreneur that provides professional administrative, technical, and social support for clients. They can offer a wide range of services, while some specialize in a certain field.

How do communicate with someone virtually? There are many ways to stay in touch with your virtual assistant. The most common I am sure you would have guessed is email. Many also like to use instant messaging. You can also use Skype for Business, this will save you on long distance phone calls! Fax is also a great way to send documents if needed, a virtual fax service is an option. The use of an FTP server is very convent for your business because files can be added and deleted while you maintain full control over what files can be accessed by your VA.

A VA can reduce your stress, take on administrative tasks so you have time to focus on the business you love and enjoy! If you have any questions please contact me here and I will he happy to help. If you are looking for a great book to read I highly recommend The Obsolete Employee. This book is written by Michael Russer a business owner that has discovered the wonders of working with a virtual assistant. He offers a great cost comparison between a VA and the traditional employee that will show you the true value from a financial point.
