Blogging for your VA Business

Posted by Erin on February 17, 2009

Blogs are not just used for personal reasons anymore, they can be a great addition to your business website. Having a blog for your business is a great way to get your name out there, discuss your up coming events and anything else you want to talk about. It will also show your clients and feature clients that you are knowledgeable in your field. Keeping your blog up to date and helpful is also important. Its your blog and a reflection of you so be your self.

Blogging has so many aspects, and you can do a lot with them. In fact blogs are often used as home pages because they are so versatile. When writing for your blog keep SEO (search engine optimization) in mind. Once you have content on your blog you want to start driving traffic to it. One way of doing this is to join blogging communities to network with others in your field. You can also find clients when you network.

Ping your blog when you make a new comment. Use Ping-o-Matic, they can ping several sites at once. There are other ping sits you can use as well.

Here are a few blogging communities for you to check out.

Blog Carnival

When you start your blog you can get a blog roll started. You will want to submit your site to blog search engines. This will improve traffic to your blog. Many people use blog search engines rather then just the web search engines. You also want to make sure you make good use of RSS. If you are not familiar with RSS you should do some reading it can really improve your listings too.

Here are a few blog search engines that I use frequently.

Blog Universe

Not sure what to write about on your business blog. Think about your business, what are you working on, do you have something big coming up? Maybe you are getting a new certification soon. If you are doing an interview, presenting at a seminar anything about your business that clients want to hear about. Write useful articles and post them on your blog after you have distributed them on the Internet.

If you do not have time to create posts on a regular basis you can hire a VA to take of your blog! You provide them with the topics and they can write the content for you, or if you prefer you can write the content too. Your virtual assistant can edit the content if needed and post it on the blog for you. They can also do the blog maintenance for you. Approving comments, links to other sites, ads and more. You can have a successful blog without doing much of the work. I offer these services to my clients so please contact me if you would like help with your blog.
